Twitter for Facebook Means Traffic for You!

Twitter and Facebook have linked up! Following last month’s LinkedIn Twitter application, Facebook has announced their own Twitter app that enables you to post tweets through Facebook, lists which Facebook friends are tweeting, and enables you to follow them on Twitter. This is major news for Internet marketing, social networking and for you, the affiliate marketer!

Unfortunately, the announcement of the application led to so much activity that there are technical difficulties. Facebook and Twitter are both working to dismiss the fail whale. You can still sign up for the application, so when the problem is fixed, you’ll be ready to go.

Here’s how the feature works:

First you have to sync your accounts. The link for the application is http://apps.facebook.com/twitter/
After you login to your Facebook account, it takes you to this page:

Once you’ve logged into your Twitter account and clicked the ‘Allow’ button, there’s some redirection and you land on the application, which looks like this:

As you can see, the app tells you which friends are on Twitter, who you’re not following, and with a simple click, lets you follow your Facebook contacts. This is how you can increase your network. The more people you follow, the more engaged you are in your network, and more people will follow you.

To make sure you’re connected, you can go to Twitter login to your account and check out your settings. Under the connections tab, you should see this:

Twitter and Facebook are working hard to fix the technical problems, so if you sign up, connect your accounts and get a fail whale, don’t worry. Check your Twitter account to make sure the connection went through, and then give it some time.

The benefits of a strong connection…

This interweaving of two social networking sites is massive. It’s just the rejuvenation Facebook needs to fix their waning popularity as a result of the privacy issues, and it means tons of activity for Twitter.
It can mean tons of traffic, as you can increase your follower numbers and syndicate your tweets. It also means less work and more rewards, because now you can get the connection benefits of Facebook with the function and style of Twitter, in one place.

As long as you stick to the golden rule of marketing on Twitter – 90 percent informational, 10 percent promotional – this application can really boost your business!
