The Part Time Affiliate Marketer’s Steps to Success, Part 4

This is the fourth of our five-part “The Part Time Affiliate Marketer’s Steps to Success” series. If you missed any of the earlier parts, you can read part one here, read part two here, read part three here.

Affiliate marketing is versatile! Selling merchant’s products as an online affiliate marketer can be a full-time job. There are thousands of people who earn their entire income as affiliate marketers. But affiliate marketing can also be the greatest part-time job on the planet.

In part one of “The Part Time Affiliate Marketer’s Steps to Success” you learned how to get a domain name.

In part two you learned how to get hosting.

In part three you learned how to build a website.

Now you have a website online so ….

You Need Products to Sell

You want to sell products that are related to the topic of your website. If your website is about doghouses, then you want to sell doghouses, products related to doghouses, or information about doghouses.

Always make sure that the products you choose to promote are DIRECTLY related to the topic of your website.

So….you ask, “how do I find these products to sell”? Here’s how……..

Some merchants administer their own affiliate programs. You can find products that you might be interested in promoting by typing the word that best describes the topic of your site (keyword) + affiliate program into the search box of any search engine.

Another and perhaps easier way to find products to sell is by going to one or more of the affiliate networks and searching for products to sell.

Many merchants belong to affiliate networks. These affiliate networks administer the merchant’s affiliate program. The merchants pay a fee to the affiliate network to get their products and information about how you can become an affiliate listed.

Affiliate marketers never, ever pay a fee to any Affiliate Network!

One of the best known affiliate networks is ClickBank. And ClickBank is a really good place to start. You will be accepted into any affiliate program listed on the ClickBank Affiliate Network. No “merchant approval” is ever required.

Use the ClickBank search feature and find products that you’d like to promote on your website. Right now it’s better if you choose only one product.

In part five of “The Part Time Affiliate Marketer’s Steps to Success” you’ll find out how to make money on that one ClickBank product that you’ve chosen!

  1. While ClickBank is a good starting point, I have found some of the most profitable affiliate programs listed in the footer or bottom menus of websites. Look for a link with words like “affiliate”, “opportunity”, “webmasster”, and “program”
