Affiliate Link Redirecting and Cloaking
On his blog, Shawn Collins said, “Affiliates cloak their links for a variety of reasons, but I do it so my affiliate links will be short, so I can use then in text email newsletters, and some people don’t like clicking affiliate links.” Shawn discusses a free redirecting and cloaking program called .htaccess.

Simple Keyword Conversion Tracking
In this interesting article posted on the CDF Networks website, the writer said, “Tracking is essential to the success of any per click affiliate campaign.  In order to know what keywords are converting, you have to track down to the keyword level.  This used to be a fairly complex thing to set up, but now its very simple.” There are both free and paid options, and the writer outlines both.

According to comScore (quoted on eMarketer), “Over 50 million unique affluent Internet users—those with annual household incomes of at least $100,000—visited Websites in March, making up over one-quarter of the entire Internet population for the month.” Wow! It’s good to know there are still those with money to spend out there.

Banner Ads: Beyond the Click
This interesting article posted on eMarketer concerns banner ads. According to iProspect, “When Internet users were surveyed to find out what actions they took when viewing a display ad on an ad-supported Website, nearly one-third said they clicked on the ad.”

Online Retailers Bullish On Web Sales
Mike Sachoff, writing on the Internet Financial News website, says, “companies are optimistic about online operations with four out of five retailers say the Web is better suited than other channels to withstand the recession and one third say the downturn has helped them to capture greater market share.”

Twitter Proves Its Value for Small Business
Duane Kuroda, writing on Revenews, says that he has come to the conclusion that, “Twitter really is useful for businesses. Q1 Online Sales Recover - if You Can Call It That – from Their Q4 Dip
Based on recession numbers, “Flat is the new up,” according to Internet Retailer. “Online sales in the first quarter were flat compared to Q1 sales a year ago, comScore reports. While that is pretty grim news by historical standards, it’s an improvement over the 3% decline that comScore measured in the fourth quarter of 2008.”
