Don’t Space Out When Naming Files

Sometimes it’s easy to forget about the simple things when you’re building websites. If you’re building a site that you want to make money with (and isn’t that the whole idea?), you want to get it done as quickly as possible.

However, there is one important thing to remember when building your site — name your files appropriately. When naming files, (for web pages, free reports, eBooks, etc), always give your files names that are have no spaces.

It’s easy to forget this step because if you use Xsite Pro to build sites, it automatically puts what I call “joiners” in the file names. For example, if you develop a page called Affiliate Marketing, the software will automatically give it a name of Affiliate_Marketing. Did you ever wonder why it does this?

The answer is: to guarantee that your links work at all times! If you do not put the joiner in, when someone clicks on your link, the toolbar will show your destination file to be something like Affiliate%20%Marketing%20%. See how it automatically puts it’s own joiner in? This leaves more room for error than if you named it with a joiner yourself.

I didn’t think about this when I uploaded my first eBook. Now, I occasionally get emails from people complaining they cannot download my book. However, now I have everything linked in my AutoResponders and several web pages, etc., and it would be very hard to change.

I’ll definitely keep it in mind from now on though! This might be happening with the free reports, and I could be losing subscribers if they are unable to unload a viral report with all of my affiliate marketing links in it.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that hurt you most.
