As part of my Affiliate Marketing business, I set up a gift shop to try to catch some of that Holiday traffic. It was easy to do using Golden Can's one line of code option. If you want to get a site up in a hurry, Golden Can is the way to go. The second part of having a web site is, of course, marketing it! I have been slowly posting ads. But I've been anxiously waiting for the day after Thanksgiving. In the past, this was known as the day that shoppers started doing their major holiday shopping. However, according to a survey done by the National Retail Federation (NRF), it looks like I'm already behind this year! Their survey shows the percentage of people shopping during the last four months of the year are as follows:
  • Before September 14.0%
  • September 6.5%
  • October 19.9%
  • November 37.0%
  • December 18.8%
  • Last two... Read More →

A couple of weeks back Rosalind Gardner and I released a report on blogging that got a lot of people talking. Yes, I managed to convince Ros to team up with me to develop a blogging course. Blogging is the strategy that Ros and I are now using almost exclusively for our web building. We have found that blogging is not just the the best way to launch a new site fast, if you combine it with our marketing strategies that new site will get traffic pretty much instantly - and forever. Well, the blog course is now available and you can register for it if you hurry. It's called Blog Classroom, and it's a 6-week intensive that includes teleseminars, videos, plus a membership site that should become the biggest "blog marketing only" facility on the Internet. Ros and I were going to keep the class pretty small, but last night we did a conference call about it which was the most amazing I have ever experienced! We had 300 lines jam packed, with hundreds of people waiting. It was so crammed with people th... Read More →
I logged into my Wordtracker account the other day and found a nice surprise. Previously, there were five different ways to search: Simple, Exact/Precise, Compressed, Comprehensive and Misspelling. While I like being given options, I need to know which one to use to get results! Now, the five of them still exist, but there's a new tool, too. It's called "Keyword Researcher." It makes searching multiple keywords much easier and, depending on its popularity, may someday replace the three different searches. Read More →
Sometimes it's easy to forget about the simple things when you're building websites. If you're building a site that you want to make money with (and isn't that the whole idea?), you want to get it done as quickly as possible. However, there is one important thing to remember when building your site — name your files appropriately. When naming files, (for web pages, free reports, eBooks, etc), always give your files names that are have no spaces. It's easy to forget this step because if you use Xsite Pro to build sites, it automatically puts what I call "joiners" in the file names. For example, if you develop a page called Affiliate Marketing
Time Travel. It's an interesting idea and something that I bet we all wish we could do. It's a classic case of "If I knew then what I know now. . ." What if you knew that a book was going to be a best-seller, I bet you would just go back in time and write it yourself! Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming, or am I? You can find good books to market by finding those in the Public Domain. Then just do some research at the library to help you write ads for those books. (As a first step, try to find the original ad for the book.) Here's how the process might play out.
