Social Network Sites: New Ad Channel

Interspersing advertising between conversations doesn’t sound like such a good idea. But, after all, what happens on TV during talk shows? Should the fact that the conversation takes place between the famous make any difference? (Interrupting those may not be such a bad idea, sometimes.)

With the growth of social networking sites, it’s inevitable that many will be encouraged to monetize the venue. And why not? Running those sites costs plenty.

MySpace.com, Xanga.com, Facebook.com, and several others are growing in popularity - and not just with the 18-24 crowd. Just looking around the blogs and various forums, it’s clear that people enjoy exchanging information, opinions, and experiences.

Well, some of those experiences are bound to involve things bought and sold. (Just look at the reviews on Amazon!) Savvy affiliate marketers are going to be near the head of the line in using this new channel to increase income. And, bravo to those brave souls!
