Search Advertising Takes Away Top Spot From Email Marketing

Well, it’s happening! More marketers are starting to focus on search engines rather than on e-mail marketing. Is SPAM just becoming too big of a problem? Are e-mails just not being read? Are consumers tired of all the ads in their inbox?Who knows, but if hundreds of companies are switching, there is obviously a reason.

By the way, these are “big companies” that spend millions on research and marketing – so you watching them and duplicating them is probably a GOOD IDEA!!

Thank you for the post Anik.

It is nice to see that the more consumer friendly approach (search), is beating out the more intrusive method (email). I think this will continue to be a trend as Web surfers become more Web savvy.

I also like seeing that banner ads are losing their effectiveness, not because I have and moral objection to them, but just because I think they are just adding to the clutter on the Web.

Hopefully sites like Yahoo! will recognize this and try to find more innovative ways to sell “ad space” on their Web properties. And that doesn’t mean using more intrusive banner ads like the ones that PointRoll creates.

    Thanks again for the post.

    Hey James,

No problem at all. I gotta say I still do like e-mail marketing. However, I take a much different attitude towards it then most.

I think email is a great way to communicate – but I can’t argue that search is just becoming more powerful and less of a headache at times : /
