Affiliate Summit 2006 - My Review

Alright so it’s been a LONG time since I wrote in this blog and I’m sure that everyone here is demanding an explanation!
First of all, I left early to go Vegas (before the Affiliate Summit) so I could attend the CES show. For those of you who don’t know, this is one of the most amazing shows I have ever been to. Over 2,500 “gadgety” companies all showing their best stuff. It was truly a great experience.
I suggest that everyone go to the one next year.
After that I spent a couple of days in Vegas on vacation (my first vacation in a long time).
Then, the REAL even started and boy was it amazing – The Affiliate Summit 2006 in Bally’s Las Vegas.
To summarize, the show was a huge success – a sincere congratulations to Shawn Collins and Missy Ward for putting together a show that is going to bring this industry much closer.
As for Affiliate Classroom, we had a great show and had a chance to really get to know the industry better. We had the pleasure of meeting some of our top affiliates and students. We had a chance to interview many companies and find out more about how Affiliate Classroom can help them and the industry in general.
I also ran the Affiliate Manager Bootcamp the day after the summit which was a huge success. My primary goal at that bootcamp (besides providing great information) was to be a voice for all the “common affiliates” and not just the super affiliates who already get treated like V.I.P.
All in all the entire show was a great success. Because of my attendance at the booth, I was not able to visit many of the workshops, but I did peak into a couple I want to talk about.
1. I went to the James Martell session where he broke down some simpler ways to recruit linking partners. I won’t give it away, but if you’re a member of Affiliate Classroom, you should already know it
2. I also peaked into Paul Colligan and Declan Dunn’s session on Podcasting and all I can remember is Declan FULL of energy (it was almost scary!).
I would say there session was incredible (didn’t get to watch most of it). But I heard great reviews and podcasting in general just has me baffled right now (so I was intrigued).
The next Affiliate Summit is already scheduled for July in Orlando. If I were you, I’d mark my calendar immediately.
