Proof That Google is WATCHING You!

Now Google has themselves PROVEN that they are watching you, learning from you, getting to know YOU better than maybe even you know yourself! Recently, Google has filed for a patent that has them ranking search results based on “user profiles” - meaning they will know what “you” like and base their results on that:

“Such profiles are created by Google and gathered from previous queries, web navigation behavior via tracked links and possibly sites visited which serve Google ads, computers with Google Applications installed such as Desktop Search, Google Wi-fi Connection or Sidebar, and personal information which Google identifies which may be “implicitly or explicitly provided by the user.” (Quote from article in SearchEngineJournal - link at the end of the post).

As a brother to the “page rank” this new form of ranking may take the name of “profile rank.”

The article gets pretty detailed and technical - for more reading, have a look…

Are You Ready For November 8th?

Alright, the second *teaser* is to let you know that Affiliate Classroom is preparing a major way to thank our affiliates starting on November 8. It’s been just over a year now since Affiliate Classroom did a BETA launch and we have seen incredible growth - I am just amazed at where we have come and how many we have been able to help along the way.

Our growth is all thanks to our great community and hard-working affiliates. We’ve lined up an amazing array of gifts, prizes and rewards as our way to THANK all of you for this year’s ThanksGiving.

If you have not already - join the program immediately and make plans to listen in on November 8…

Viral Marketing At It’s Best…

I was going through some articles on MarketingSherpa and found one on viral marketing that I just absolutely had to share. I’m a big believer in viral marketing and think that it can do wonders for a business! Well here’s proof of how well viral marketing works.

There is this band, OK Go - they were preparing for a tour and needed to practice their dance routine. Not having access to their dance studio, where you have mirrors to watch yourself, they decided to video tape themselves in the back yard.

After they got done, one of their girlfriends thought it was so good that she wanted them to use it as their official music video (rather than getting a professional one done). They didn’t like the idea so much so she asked if she could borrow the tape to get some “outside opinions.”

Well, she pasted it online and sent it to a couple of friends to get their opinion and 2.5 million downloads later the band was invited to dance live on Good Morning America AND The Tonight Show (also have now had an interview with Carson Daly).

So not only did this band get lots of exposure and new fans but they got major publicity!

The lesson here of course is to be unique, think differently and use VIRAL MARKETING!

How many think it’s time Affiliate Classroom wrote a song and dance sequence on affiliate marketing ;)

Is Google Irritating Ebay?

Google just recently let everyone have a sneak peak at a classified service they may soon start for FREE.

As Yahoo reported, Google made a statement after teasing everyone with their BETA test of the classified service: “We are testing new ways for content owners to easily send their content to Google.” Does anyone else see the consistent recurring word, “content?”

Google has made it clear that they are working on a “forum-like” service where you can list/sell your products/services free of charge. To those of you who know what “craigslist” is - imagine a craigslist that is owned by Google! (Craigslist is a free classified site with lots of traffic - I’ve sold/bought many things there).

Google also announced that they are working on an online payment system, but they *swear* it will not compete with Ebay’s Paypal (I for some reason am not convinced, I think they are going head straight for anything owned by Ebay).

Bottomline, Google pretty much owns the SEs now, why not move into other areas - this will be interesting to watch…
