Is Your Head Going To Explode?

Alright, typically I find good articles, do a brief synopsis and then link you up. But, today I want to do things a bit differently - I want to talk about something I’m seeing becoming a HUGE problem for any/all internet entrepreneurs (myself included).

You see, its a little past 12 AM here and I just got done stressing out (don’t worry I figured out the problem, resolved it and am moving on). But, before I crash for the night I wanted to pass on this “piece of wisdom” to you.

Let’s say you go out and buy a McDonald’s franchise tomorrow, you invest $1.5 million (or whatever huge sum it costs) and it opens up. Are you going to turn around the next day and say, “Hey, I think I’ll buy a Wendy’s now too…”

Absolutely not! At least not until that McDonalds is running smoothly and you have free time to invest into another business.

Well, then tell me this - why in the world do we not follow the same principle on the internet? Why is it that since it’s so “easy” to start a website, we go nuts trying to start 5 projects at a time.

What happens? We never get even ONE done - don’t make any money - get stressed out - lose hope and get depressed! I’m not kidding…if I could get a dime for every student I see going through this…

Who am I kidding? “I” go through this even though I teach people not to. I JUST got done shedding off multiple projects, I never even knew when I just started adding all of them! Today, I realized myself getting stressed, disorganized, confused and frustrated. Immediately I knew it was because I was spreading myself too thin.

Take my advice on this please - work on ONE thing at a time. Get it to the point that you are happy with and then re-invest your free time to a new project. Don’t work on multiple projects at the same time…

Well that’s my 2 cents for the day.

Hi Anik,
Just joined your band of devotees via my Daughter’s credit card! Yes that’s right ….for the last year I was maxed out having bought almost every course and e-book I could lay my hands, on thinking that once I had all this “stuff”..Hey I would be on the podium with all you guys. I quite agree with your article that you must do one thing at a time and do it well unless of course you are a Woman.
We all know that Women are far superior at doing several things at once unlike us Guys!

My Wake up call came from Jim Edwards back in June when instead of saying one morning ” Gee that’s a great idea ..I’ll do that sometime” I immediately set about setting my Blog up with Jim’s tutorial in front of me.
While it took a little longer than the 15 mins or so it said in Jim’s e-mail .It was done and dusted and six months later now the results to my web site traffic and search engine placements are terrific.
Look forward to learning from you and your associates.

The problem with the internet is the same with all businesses. When people first start in with a website, they may panic because they’re not making money. Then you build five other websites to try to get something going. (I’m guilty)

It’s exceptionally hard to be patient while you’re trying and testing things that are gradually successful.

I can fully understand your post. I’m currently working on one project, and have decided to make it ‘the’ project until it works.

Let’s face it, who in their right minds would get into multiple projects if they were making tons of money with one.

Cheers.

As a fellow affiliate classroom member, I will just say Amen to your post about spreading too thin. Sometimes even on the one site I am working on. Not to mention the 2 software ideas I have.

I think the question now is do I work on the possiblity of higher profit ideas or do I stick with lower margins but where my passion lies.

A follow up to my post in November.Have I purchased more memberships ..Yes !
Have I bought more books ?…Yes! Have I bought more software?…Yes . Will I go on doing this until the Bank Fault runs dry ?…No absolutely not!
This year after getting sucked into the euphoria of making money on the Internet (and of course not making any money at all) I intend to continue to build on the learning process ; not by purchasing more and more but by putting into firm action all the information that is currently to hand.
It is unfortunately addictive to keep spending money (Investing you could call it !)However there comes a time when you just have to do the hard slog and then the money will start to flow. One interesting fact for Newbies is that having written articles on your chosen topic of expertise it will take six months or more before you start to see significant presence in the search engines. So you gotta keep writing (and Blogging).See you on the Podium this year ?
