Who Says Only Google is Important?

October 22, 2005 — Over a 3 month period search engine ranking service provider, www.servicewrap.net, compiled statistics comparing the main requirements of new clients, when it came to the perceived value of a search engine ranking in a specific search engine.

Whilst it might not be a surprise to seasoned search engine marketers, www.servicewrap.net uncovered surprising evidence, collated from statistical data researched with client correspondence, that Google still held the lions share, in terms of required search engine ranking achievement.

The surprise from the data found that the Yahoo search engine now accounted for 35% of client requirements for top search engine ranking positions with MSN and even AskJeeves holding smaller percentages.

The figure, believes www.servicewrap.net, shows the steady climb in popularity of the Yahoo search engine, and its now more recognizable perceived value in terms of marketing visibility.

Whilst Google was still the undisputed leader in these findings, and although unscientific, they were researched from SEO client behaviour, show increasing trends not to rely on one search engine for traffic.

The research even found that the UK lagged behind its US competitors by clinging to the belief that Google alone was the only search engine worth any salt, not just for a short-term search engine ranking campaign, but a long-term campaign.

US based SEO client behaviour was found to be definitely breaking the Google popularity trend by leaving behind a certain naivety that only 1 search engine would ever be worth concentrating efforts upon.

As a percentage 75% of US based SEO client behaviour struck a consistent chord that Yahoo should be a major factor in any search engine ranking campaign whilst only 25% of UK based companies believed the same.

The research showed a clear transatlantic divide, and what usually begins in the US follows to the UK. Whatever happens, Yahoo is now finding its feet as a wanted marketing commodity for online traders now apparently allowing the Yahoo brand to lap at their marketing budgets.

Do You Accept Advertising?

…maybe you should start if you are not already!

A study done by The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed that online advertising revenues are up 26% this year’s 2nd quarter compared to last year, nearing $2.9 billion! The total for the first half of 2005 was already $5.8 billion.

It seems that companies are starting to drastically shift their marketing budgets to the internet, seeing a better ROI and more “bang for their buck.”

I would say that about 90% of the affiliate websites I review have “dead real estate” that they could easily be making money on by selling ad space. Links, banners, buttons, etc… that could be worth tens, hundreds and even thousands of dollars (given your traffic).

What kind of ads? Well if you don’t feel like going through the hassle of selling ads, then about just Google Adsense! Although let me say from personal experience that I have just recently experimented with selling ad space and have found that “niche” incredibly rewarding!

If you havn’t yet ever thought about selling ad space, it looks like the best time to start thinking about it.

From $200 a day to $3000 with Google Adsense…

Alright, I realize that we’re a bit late reporting this story, but I just found this great Google case study. A company, WebLogs, Inc. is looking to hit $1 million in just adsense revenue alone! WebLogs, Inc. is a collection of over 100 independent bloggers who post over 1000 messages a week in over 75 blogs.

The company CEO discusses how when they initially launched adsense on their blogs they were only making close to $6000 a month and they were happy that it would cover some bills.

However, they then started testing different layouts, colors, placements and number of ads and quickly realized the HUGE potential in the adsense revenue.

Interview with Russell Brunson – Affiliate Marketing

Russell Brunson is a very well respected affiliate marketer who just launched a new coaching program (Click here to learn more about the program…). Tonight’s interview was all about how he got started in affiliate marketing and what he recommends affiliate marketers who are new to the industry.

Russell revealed that his main strategy from traffic when he first started was actually forum marketing/discussion board marketing. I agreed with him as this was how “I” got my start as well.

“Forum marketing” is basically being active in a certain discussion board and always making sure that you have a great signature file promoting some targeted product/website (or even better a lead-capture page for you to build a list with!).

Russell also talks about his father who just started “Joint Venture brokering” about 6 weeks or so ago and has already earned well over $6,000! He talks a lot about how you can start (JV brokering requires NO products, NO list, nothing on your end but the ability to help people meet…)

The interview was excellent and is now available for download! Compliments of Affiliate Classroom – no charge!
